Move Your Pet to Korea, South
"No quarantine for pets entering South Korea." Sounds fantastic! Yet there are a myriad of details to attend to before the dog, the cat, or the ferret are ready to leave the USA for their flight to South Korea.
Air Animal knows and understands the language and sequencing of South Korea's rules, regulations, and protocol including:
- Microchip implant prior to the Rabies vaccination.
- Followed by a Rabies vaccination at least 30 days prior to entry and not more than one year old.
- Followed by the blood test for Rabies antibody's (FAVN-OIE) with results greater than 0.5 I.U. ... the results are good for two years; provided the Rabies vaccination is kept up to date.
- An international health certificate issued within ten (10) days of flight; endorsed by the USDA at a regional office.
- Neither tick nor tapeworm treatment is required to enter South Korea.
- An import permit for dogs, cats, & ferrets is NOT required to enter South Korea.
The Republic of Korea's Ministry of Agriculture's protocol and procedure allows for dogs, cats and ferrets older than ninety (90) days to enter Korea quarantine-free as long as the Rabies antibody test was performed within 24 months prior to entry.
- Pets arriving without microchip identification will be micro chipped upon arrival and quarantined until chipped.
- Pets arriving without Rabies antibody results; or test results under 0.5 I.U.'s ... quarantined until Rabies antibody results above 0.5 I.U.
- Pets arriving 90 days of age or less; or arriving from Rabies free countries ...
- Pets arriving under 90 days of age; and micro chipped ... no quarantine.
- Pets arriving under 90 days of age; and not micro chipped ... quarantine until micro chipped.
After you move:
Please register with a local veterinarian to keep your pet's rabies vaccination up to date. Veterinarians typically send reminder notices when vaccinations are due.
Also consider having your U.S. veterinarian run a complete blood count, a differential and chem panel on your dog or cat before moving. Take the report with you to share with your new veterinarian. If another move is in your future, you and your pet will be ready.
