Move Your Pet to India
Whatever your reason for relocating to India, Air Animal has the knowledge and the experience to provide you with Pet Moving Made Easy® solutions. Pet transportation into India is regulated by the Ministry of Agriculture. There are a number of regulations and a complex timeline we will help you navigate.
You must be moving your permanent residence on an "E" employment visa or you must be an Indian citizen returning from overseas assignment for your pet to enter the country. You may also be required to provide documents that prove you will stay in India for at least two years. You may relocate two pets and they must be dogs or cats. Birds, reptiles and other pets require Special Import Authorizations issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
We can take care of:
- A complimentary microchip is included for all our clients.
- Rabies vaccination should be given at least 30 days before but less than 1 year before entry.
- An endorsed USDA pet transportation international health certificate within 10 days of flight date.
- Indian NOC import permit for which we apply after the USDA health certificate arrives.
- Relocating your pet within 30 days of your move to India.
- Citizens returning to India must present the original export health certificate issued by the Indian Animal Quarantine officer when the pet left India. The microchip number in the pet must be identical to the number on the original certificate.
- We also help you with the documents you need to pick up your pet from customs.
After you move:
Please register with a local veterinarian to keep your pet's rabies vaccination up to date. Veterinarians typically send reminder notices when vaccinations are due.
Also consider having your U.S. veterinarian run a complete blood count, a differential and chem panel on your dog or cat before moving. Take the report with you to share with your new veterinarian. If another move is in your future, you and your pet will be ready.
